The Corps of Staff Cadets (CSC) is the top-ranking corps of the Australian Army. All officer trainees, known as Staff Cadets, join the Corps upon successful completion of Initial Cadet Training (6-8 weeks). A special "Lanyard Parade" marks the occasion and provides the trainees with their Corps lanyard. The name dates back to the College's founding in 1911, as it was established to train Staff Corps officers. Now, after graduating, the cadet is promoted to lieutenant and assigned to a combat, combat support, or combat service corps.
