The reverse of each medallion features the engraved Australian and South Vietnam flags. The medallion is minted from brass alloy and finished in highly polished and frosted silver. The medallion measures 50mm by 4.5mm and is enclosed in a sturdy clear protector and presented in a quality leatherette case. Only 250 medallions will be available worldwide. Comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Combined Arms Contact - Huey joins the fight The distinctive roaring pulse of the Bell UH-1B Iroquois helicopter's rotors is a sound synonymous with the Vietnam War and a sound infantrymen knew would bring much-needed ammo, fire support or lifesaving medical evacuation. The first eight "Hueys" of No. 9 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force arrived in Vietnam in 1966 - without armour or flak jackets for the crew. Yet these crews quickly proved themselves as intrepid airmen who would risk all to resupply and extract our troops. In 1968 the squadron increased to 16 aircraft, four of which were subsequently modified into "Bushranger" gunships with twin-fixed forward-firing 7.62-millimetre mini-guns, two seven-tube 2.75 inch rocket launchers and two door-mounted M60 7.62 mm general purpose machine guns (GPMG). In the 2013 artwork 'Combined Arms Contact' from which this medallion image is lifted, renowned Australian artist, Drew Harrison shows a Bushranger and a standard Huey joining the fight, to supply, to fight and to "dust off" the wounded. 9 Squadron's last mission in Vietnam was flown in November 1971.
